Delhi Police have arrested three carjackers who used to stop cars posing as policemen and later robbed them.

The arrested persons, identified as Tony Ojha alias Pandit, his brother Manoj Ohja and Sanjay Ojha, are natives of Uttar Pradesh and were also involved in murder of a UP police constable. “Tony and Manoj used to choose easy targets from whom they could rob vehicles. Tony sold the vehicles after preparing forged documents in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. With their arrest we have solved nine cases of Delhi and UP,” Prabhakar, DCP (east) said.

“They used to carry police dress with them which would help them to escape with stolen vehicles. A uniform of sub-inspector of UP police with name plate of Rajveer, forged I-Card of Tony Ojha as Rajveer has been recovered,” he added.

The gang members used to move in cars fitted with beacons and used fake name and registration number plates of senior government officers on their cars. “They were arrested following investigation into a series of carjacking incidents in east Delhi. During interrogation it was revealed that Tony alongwith his accomplices had shot dead constable Ashok Kumar Gaur of UP Police on June 22 to release his brother Manoj Ojha when he was taken back to jail from the court,” Prabhakar added. The gang members also used to carry sophisticated guns with them.
