A family of three, including a six-year-old girl, was killed in south-west Delhi's Bindapur area, the police said on Friday.
The victims have been identified as Asit Sahini, 31, his 24-year-old wife Falguni and their daughter Chetna. According to the police, the victims were killed by two persons over a property dispute.
Both the accused — Gurdip Singh, 41, a tailor and his associate Rehman Ali, 31 — were arrested from the spot.
The incident took place on Thursday night when Sahini along with his wife and daughter went to Bindapur to meet Gurdip Singh, who works at a garment shop.
Sahini, who worked at a jewellery shop in Karol Bagh, had purchased a house in Bawana area from Singh a few months back for R2.25 lakh, said a police officer. “Even after taking money, Singh did not give the flat’s possession to the couple. A few days ago, the couple had told Singh that they would approach police if he does not give the possession of the flat to them. This had irked Singh who hatched a plan to kill Asit and included Rehman Ali in it,” said AK Ojha, additional CP (southwest).
On Thursday afternoon as per his plan, Singh on the pretext of handing over the papers of the flat called Asit to meet him at the workshop. When Asit reached there along with his wife and daughter, the accused made them unconscious by giving them soft drink laced with sedatives.
“Asit was hit on his head with an iron paddle of a sewing machine. Falguni regained consciousness and started screaming. The accused then repeatedly stabbed her with his scissors and attacked her with the sewing machine paddle. Later, they smothered the girl child with a pillow and stabbed her too,” the officer added.
Singh was arrested by the two constables who were patrolling in the area. The policemen reached the spot after hearing the screams of the woman. Ali, who was hiding on the terrace of the building, was nabbed at the instance of Singh.
According to neighbours, the building was earlier used for running prostitution business. A murder had also taken place in the house a couple of years back.
