3 students drown in Yamuna

Three students were drowned in Yamuna, where they had gone to immerse Durga idols on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami on Thursday.

The incident took place near Yamuna Pusta-III in the Wazirabad area in North Delhi. A team of the local police along with fire brigade officials and divers was pressed into service.

“After a half-an-hour-long search, the divers were able to fish out three bodies. A child is also reported missing,” the officer added. The victims were identified as Puran, 20, Dilshad Ali, 19, and Himmat, 21. The deceased were students of hardware engineering at a private institute in Rajouri Garden.

Police said the three were residents of BSF Colony in Sector 16, Dwarka.
