A 30-year-old killed his father, who allegedly had an illicit relationship with his wife, in Modinagar area of Ghaziabad on Tuesday.

Sunil Kashyap, a private travel operator and a father of two, battered his father Rajender (55) to death with an iron rod, police said. He apparently killed his father to save his wife’s “honour”.

“My father-in-law had been pressuring me to get into a relationship since Diwali. I resisted several times but was forced to give in later out of fear. Then we shifted out of his house. I told my husband and he spoke to his father many times as well. Yet, my father-in-law visited me and made advances whenever my husband was out for work,” wife Santosh (27) said.

Then Sunil called his father to his Dayapuri house to ask about the “forcible and illicit-relationship” he allegedly shared with Santosh.

“When Sunil’s fears were confirmed, he took out an iron rod and battered his father till he died. Later, he surrendered himself before the police and admitted to the crime. Whether the relationship was “forcible” or “consensual”, is being yet to be ascertained. The man murdered his father in cold blood,” Superintendent of Police (Rural) K.K. Asthana said.

Neighbours said Santosh resisted her father-in-law's attempts several times but they could not protest since it was a family matter.
