In a replay of the December 16 gangrape, a 35-year-old housewife was allegedly abducted from outside the Akshardham temple, raped by five men in a moving car and then dumped on a roadside on Sunday, said the police.
The victim told the police that there were two women in the vehicle as well. “The people in the car were known to her, so she got in,” said an officer.
An hour later at around 10.15am, a beat constable spotted the woman lying on the roadside at Bhairon Mandir near Pragati Maidan, said the police. He walked up to the woman and asked if she needed help.
“She complained that she was unwell, so she was taken to the RML (Ram Manohar Lohia) hospital, where she told us that she was raped,” said the officer.
A medical examination confirmed the same.
The woman gave them the details of the five men and teams were sent out to nab them, the police said.
“Arrests will be made soon since the assailants’ residences have been verified,” said Prabhakar, deputy commissioner of police (east).
Initial investigation revealed that earlier too the woman had accused the same men of sexually assaulting, said the police.
