A four-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh last week, was rescued from east Delhi, the police said on Monday.
According to the police, the kidnappers, who have criminal background, were hiding in an east Delhi locality and were intercepted on Saturday when they were trying to change their hideout.
“We had information that two kidnappers who have kidnapped a minor boy from Bulandshahar are hiding along with the boy in Shastri Park. The kidnappers were looking for a safe hideout for keeping the child till the ransom amount was delivered,” said OP Mishra, DCP (east). The boy, Rashid (name changed) was kidnapped on April 14 from Bulandshahar.
“During interrogation, it emerged that they had kidnapped the child with the help of Chand (uncle of the boy).
Immediately after kidnapping the boy, they demanded R6 lakh as ransom from his father,” Mishra added. The kidnappers had asked the boy’s father to deliver the money on Saturday.
The arrested have been identified as Mazhar (30) and Nadeem (25). Nadeem, who was the first one to be arrested from Jagatpuri, led police to Bulandshahar from where the boy was rescued and Mazhar was apprehended.
“Nadeem and Mazhar got in touch with the boy’s father posing themselves as businessmen and wanted to meet him in that connection. As per plan and appointment, both of them visited the boy’s father,” Mishra said, adding, “Mazhar offered cold drink to the boy’s parents laced with some drugs. After consuming the cold drink, both of them became unconscious. As soon as they became unconscious, they kidnapped the child.”
The police have informed their counterpart in Bulandshahar for the arrest of the boy’s uncle. He is yet to be nabbed.
