5,340 kg illegal firecrackers seized, three arrested
In its second operation against illegal storage of firecrackers in the last three days, the crime branch of Delhi Police raided three godowns in different parts of the city on Wednesday. Three people have been arrested in this regard.

The police also seized 5,340kg illegally stored firecrackers from three godowns located in Samaipur Badli, Mangolpuri and Naveen Shahdara areas.
The arrested were identified as Pankaj Kansal, 35, Bipin Kumar, 24, and Aditya Aggarwal, 23. They were booked under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code and later released on bail, said the police.
A senior police officer said the estimated value of the seized firecrackers was more than R50 lakh in the Indian market. Ashok Chand, DCP (crime and railways), said, “We received information about illegal storage of firecrackers in three godowns.” The first raid was conducted at a godown in Chandan Park, Samaipur Badli, and 2,850 kg illegally stored firecrackers were seized.
Another raid was conducted in Mangolpuri and 2,080 kg firecrackers were seized from a godown. The third raid was conducted in Naveen Shahdara and 410 kg firecrackers were recovered. Investigation revealed that the firecrackers were procured from various wholesalers in Gurgaon and Farukhabad in UP. On Monday, 2,715 kg of firecrackers worth R27 lakh were seized and 2 were arrested.
