Six persons, including a 28-year-old man and five women, were arrested for running a sex racket in Rohini, police said on Thursday.
“The five women and the alleged pimp, identified as Vikas Gupta were apprehended from Rohini Sector 16 on Wednesday after we received an input that a man and a group of women were luring people for sex,” said Chhaya Sharma, DCP (outer).
According to the police, a public witness was detailed as a decoy customer to negotiate a deal and given R1,000 to finalise one such transaction. Gupta is a school dropout and used to work at a factory in the Badli Industrial Area and a tent house in Paharganj before taking to pimping.
“We moved in on the gang after the finalisation of the deal and apprehended Gupta, two women pimps and three sex workers. During interrogation, it was learnt that Gupta and the two women pimps used to procure girls from Mumbai on a monthly contract of R1 lakh each,” Sharma said.
Police said the trio used to allure businessmen, property dealers and traders residing in Rohini, Uttam Nagar and Vikas Puri and charge R5,000 for each deal.
