Four persons were killed and seven injured in four accidents reported from different parts of the capital in the past 24 hours.
The first accident took place on Vikas Marg, in which a 50-year-old auto driver was killed. A speeding Alto car hit his auto late on Wednesday night, killing the auto driver Surinder Mahto.
“At 11pm, near the Laxmi Nagar traffic light, the Alto car, with three occupants, crashed into the auto. The occupants of the car and the auto driver were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Mahto was declared brought dead,” a senior police officer said.
A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered against the driver of the car.
In the second accident, a 60-year-old woman, who was crossing the road in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh area, was hit by an unknown vehicle around 9.30pm. The victim, who is yet to be identified, was taken to the hospital but succumbed to injuries later.
In the third accident, a Santro car rammed a truck in outer Delhi’s Alipur area on Wednesday night, killing one and injuring another three.
Police said the car was speeding and the driver couldn’t apply the brakes in time, when the truck slowed down at a speed breaker. “The occupants of the car — Deepak, Banti, Praveen, Lippal and Ravi — were injured. They were taken to a nearby hospital where one of them died,” a senior police officer said.
In the fourth accident, a six-year-old girl died after being hit by an a mini-bus in southwest Delhi’s Dabri area.
The victim, Gulfasa, had accompanied her mother to the market and were returning home. “At 2pm on Thursday, a mini-bus hit the girl. The driver Anil has been arrested,” the officer added.
