Two unknown assailants, armed with knives and country made weapons, stabbed a 62 year old woman to death at her Shahpur Jat residence on Saturday night, the police said.
“The incident took place around 1:30 am when the victim, Shravani Devi, her daughter in law Poonam (28) and grandson Shubham (6) were asleep in a bedroom on the fifth floor of their residence,” said a senior police officer adding that they were suspecting it to be a case of personal enmity.
“When Poonam opened the gate, the assailants held gagged her and held her hostage at knifepoint. They then attacked Shravani with the blunt edge of the knives. They left after killing Sharavani,” said the officer.
The police said Poonam raised an alarm after the assailants had made their escape and a PCR call was made at 1:50 am.
“Robbery does not seem to have been the motive. It seems like a case of personal enmity. Various teams have been constituted to investigate the matter and a manhunt has been launched to nab the assailants,” the officer added.
