7 held for illegal cow slaughter

Seven people allegedly involved in illegal slaughter of cattle were arrested in south Delhi on Tuesday and around 3,000 kgs of beef were seized from them.

“The arrested men have been identified as Sazid (44), Shahzad (23), Mohammed Arfin (25), Mohammed Tayab (35), Zahid (20), Alam (24) and Salauddin (28),” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) HGS Dhaliwal.

The police arrested them from slum clusters in RK Puram’s Indira Market after receiving an input about illegal slaughtering of cattle.

Raids were conducted along with MCD and Delhi government officials at some hutments in the slum cluster from where chopped pieces of cattle weighing around 3,000 kgs and several instruments used for slaughtering were allegedly recovered.

As news spread, BJP activists led by party’s Delhi unit chief O.P. Kohli blocked traffic on Olof Palme Marg in RK Puram Sector-7.
