Of the eight men who were arrested on Saturday for beating up Bhupender Nagar, the chief security officer of a pub in Nehru Place, some of them have been involved in other criminal cases as well, the police said.
Sources said that the same group had created ruckus at Jynxxx pub two months ago and had beaten up a guest. An FIR of the same was registered at Kalkaji police station.
Rohit Tomar, a friend of Nagar said that the bouncers — Rocky, Vikas Chauhan, Manendra and Bobby — who were arrested for the assault, used to roam around looking for jobs at pubs.
“Every pub hires bouncers on daily basis and most of them are outsourced employees. They have formed a group. For instance, if Rocky is leading them, he would get his share of money if he manages to get the rest a job at any bar. That’s how the rivalry begins,” Tomar said.
Manendra had worked with Jynxxx earlier and had left eight months ago. He was currently working with a pub at Greater Kailash. “To prove their status as bullies, they used to travel in groups to various pubs. Since they worked with most of the pubs, they wanted to gain free entry,” Tomar added.
The accused used to visit Jynxxx regularly and would create ruckus.
“They misbehaved with our guests some two months ago and we filed an FIR against them. After that, their entry was banned. They did come to club after that but they were not allowed to enter. To take revenge, they threatened Nagar and other security officers,” Tomar said.
