An eight-year-old drug addict, whose family chained and locked him for a year, was rescued from his house in Mayur Vihar by the police and child rights organisation on Thursday.
According to NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan, which assisted in the rescue, the boy had fallen into the habit of sniffing correction fluid.
According to the NGO, the boy's family felt they had no other option but to chain him to stop him from going out. He had been tied up in chains for a year before he was rescued.
The boy was sent to Apna Ghar shelter home after his medical check-up.
