9 ITBP personnel get President's police medal

Nine ITBP personnel have been awarded the President's Police Medal on the eve of the Independence day.

While Deputy Inspector General (Engineering) Ishan Pradeep has been awarded the President's Police medal for distinguished service, eight others have been awarded the Police Medal for meritorious service.

They include DIG Anil Kumar, Second-in-Command Rajinder Singh, Assistant Commandants Dharam Singh and Hari Singh Negi, Inspectors Bharat Raj, Devi Singh, Harbans Lal Sharma, Alam Singh Rawat and Constable Angroop Tashi.

The primary role of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is to guard the 3,488km Sino-Indian border along with other internal security and anti-Naxal duties.
