Here’s an evening dedicated to dogs — man’s best friends. Live dog shows, a dance performance and an adoption drive, among other events, will mark the event titled — A cause for the Paws. Commemorating the World Animal Day, the event is being organised for People For Animals and the Delhi Police Dog Squad and primarily aims at finding homes for abandoned dogs.
"It’s traditionally easier to get young puppies adopted. Through this event, we want to tell people that older dogs are beautiful and need equal affection," says Arjun Sharma of Select City Walk. "We have had a huge connect as far as adoption of dogs is concerned. In the past three years, over 2,000 puppies have been adopted," he adds.
The adoption drive will include a nine minute film on dogs. Following this, the abandoned dogs will walk the ramp, accompanied with their volunteers.
One of the most sought after performance of the day will be the Delhi Police Dog Show, which will feature a display of obedience, sniffing and tracking by our canine sentinels.
Adding a cultural hue to the day will be the contemporary dance performance titled, Carnival of Animals, by Nikolina Nikoleski Dance Company. "The group choreography will celebrate animals’ affection to mankind through dance. From the smooth moves of a wild cat, the gallop of a zebra and horse, to the flight of butterflies, the dancers will create the aura of the jungle," says Nikolina Nikoleski, the choreographer of the piece.
