Two days after IIPM student Anand Tiwari was found murdered, Delhi Police believe an envious senior took his life. Police sources say Tiwari’s case was a love triangle gone haywire.
The police are looking for one of his seniors from IIPM — a Ghaziabad resident who had passed out two years ago. The man is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of Anand’s girlfriend. He is presently absconding and five police teams have been sent to Ghaziabad, Najafgarh and other areas to search for him.
Sister speaks up
“Everything was fine till a year back,” said Preeti Chandrashekhar, Tiwari’s first cousin. Earlier, Tiwari was residing with a few relatives in Saket in South Delhi. Problems started when he shifted to a rented flat in Katwaria Sarai three months ago.
“My brother started going around with his classmate, who is from Ghaziabad. She would not let him concentrate on studies, and called him up repeatedly. I even told his parents back in Kolkata about it and they were planning to intervene.”
Her husband Krishan Dutt Sharma was the last one in the family to meet Tiwari around 4.30 pm on the day he was murdered. Chandrashekhar alleged the girl’s ex-boyfriend was behind the murder.
“He was jealous of the fact that my brother and this girl were going abroad together and wanted to prevent it at any cost,” she said.
Police believe four men may be involved in the murder. They are monitoring the calls made from the area at that time. They are questioning Tiwari’s classmates and friends, including his roommate Vijay Garg.
DCP HGS Dhaliwal said, “It was a pre-planned murder. We have a fair idea of the chain of events. It is most likely a case of personal enmity.”
