Delhi University students are popular for coming up with innovative ways to showcase their creativity, something that was evident in most collegiate theatre performances during the fest season. Come Sunday, the students of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) have a treat planned for city’s theater enthusiasts. They will perform their first commercial production, Run Through, a three act play at the LTG Auditorium.
They have taken up the challenge of performing a play within a play. “The concept was not easy to implement. We made our group do many impromptu exercises as each actor was playing three different roles, including himself. At times, even the director would get confused about the script!” says Shoury Gupta, play’s producer and a third year Economics (Hons) student. He is also the co-founder of a production house, Turntable Productions, along with Medha Bankhwal and Prateek Handa. Says Vishnu Sinha, an actor who he is his first year, “It is comedy at its ground level which is being stupid and everyone relates to it”.
The group promises the play's set to be the most anticipated prop onstage. One side of the stage would be witness to a sugar and spice conflict between the characters while the other side will bear witness to a chaotic, topsy-turvy situation. Not only this, but among the three acts, one will be performed backstage, which is going to be a mime, tells Dhananjay, director of the play.
