Aiming to tap into the support of budding women entrepreneurs of Delhi, the government has decided to launch a Women Traders’ Wing. Party officials say that the primary aim of the wing would be to tackle the problems faced by businesswoman.

According to party volunteers and officials, the move comes after several women entrepreneurs approached the party seeking a platform to directly contact the Delhi government.

“The women trader’s wing would primarily work towards bridging the gap between them and the government. The wing would also work towards empowering women by recognising and promoting entrepreneurship,” said Subhash Khandelwal, president, AAP Trade Wing.

As per an estimate of the AAP, there are little over one lakh women entrepreneurs in Delhi and while the trader’s wing will benefit the businesswomen, it will also increase employment.

“A large number of women entrepreneurs are currently involved in small-scale businesses including boutiques, beauty parlours, small-scale garment industry among other ventures. Through the new wing, the women would be given a platform to interact with other women entrepreneurs and also raise their voice,” said Brijesh Goyal, AAP trade wing Delhi convener.
