Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has launched a campaign for creating party volunteers in the New Delhi assembly constituency from where he intends to fight the forthcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has won thrice from this seat.
According to Aam Aadmi Party leaders, the campaign has received an overwhelming response, with more than 3,000 people joining the party as “sthaniya prabharis” in less than two days.
“A force of 200 party volunteers went door-to-door, covering almost the entire constituency and explaining the vision of Aam Aadmi Party to persuade them to take over the responsibility of becoming a local prabhari,” an Aam Aadmi Party release stated.
A local prabhari is expected to take on the responsibility of 15-20 homes in the vicinity and make sure that the party’s communication is routed to these homes through them. The volunteers will clear whatever doubts people living in these homes have regarding the party. “The prabhari will also become a part of women security force created by the party to help women who are in need and distress,” an Aam Aadmi Party release stated.
AAP also announced that Kejriwal will join a dharna on Monday by auto rickshaw drivers protesting a notice put up by Sheila Dikshit government prohibiting them from putting up advertisements on the back side of their vehicles at Jantar Mantar at 11am. HTC
The AAP leader would join them at Jantar Mantar at 11 am.
