AAP leader Alka Lamba was attacked in north Delhi's Kashmere Gate on Sunday by unidentified persons during an anti-drug drive.

Lamba received minor head injury after unidentified men pelted stones at her.

She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was discharged after being treated for minor head injuries.

“I reached the Hanuman Mandir near Kashmere Gate at around 5:30am and was talking to people sleeping there about the drive when a man came out and hurled a stone at me. It hit me on the head. The idea behind the attack was to scare the people and whoever attacked me succeeded as the people ran away from there,” Lamba said.

After the attack, the lawmaker tweeted, "Nashe ke khilaf ladai ka anjaam... mujh par hamla kar mera sar faad diya, khoon behne ke baawjood bhi main maidan nahi chhodungi... August Kranti diwas (This is the result of fight against drugs. They attacked me and injured my head. I will not leave the field despite being injured)."

AAP leader Ashutosh said that attack on Lamba was a deep cosnpiracy and AAP will fight back.

"She was targeted as she was the only one who got hit in crowd. It's deep conspiracy. AAP will fight back," he tweeted.

An eyewitness, Indu Prakash Singh, said the incident occured when the homeless had gathered in front of the temple where Lamba was speaking.

“She was requesting everyone to sleep in shelters and go for de-addiction camps. She then said she will stop all drug trade and assaults against women in the area when a stone came and hit her on the left side of her head. The attack occured in full presence of few Delhi Police officials,” he said.

He also alleged that the shop from where the stone was thrown belongs to a BJP leader.

The police have arrested a 23-year-old youth for the attack.
