In a stinging attack at the Delhi Police, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) termed the Capital’s police commissioner, BS Bassi, a “senior BJP leader”.

The attack came hours after a case was registered against AAP’s Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba for allegedly trespassing and damaging sweetmeat shop belonging to BJP legislator OP Sharma.

“Had the shop belonged to an AAP MLA or a leader and had a BJP MLA been attacked, senior BJP leader (BS) Bassi sahab would have sent them to Tihar (jail) by now. In this case, OP Sharma has not even been called for interrogation. On the other hand, we are being threatened openly. It’s better for you (Bassi) that you work as the chief spokesperson for the prime minister, but since you are also the commissioner of Delhi, you should interrogate OP Sharma,” Ashutosh, senior AAP leader, said.

Lamba was attacked while she was undertaking an anti-drug drive on Sunday.

The party has alleged that the attack was carried out by a man working in Sharma’s shop.

An FIR has also been registered in this case. AAP also attacked Sharma for his comments against Lamba. The BJP legislator had called Lamba a drug addict.

“The language used by BJP MLA clearly shows that he has no respect either for women,” the party said.
