The Adarsh Housing Society on Monday told Environment ministry that its show-cause notice was “misplaced” and it has all clearances to construct the 310-storey building.
In a written rejoinder to ministry’s notice issued in November 2010, the society said the Maharashtra government cleared the project and it received a no-objection certificate from the ministry in 2003.
The ministry had sought a written submission from the society in the last hearing on January 4. The ministry is required to submit its decision on Adarsh Housing scam to Bombay High Court by January 17.
Detailing the chronology of events since 2000, the society accused the ministry of acting in undue haste and initiating trial by media.
“The show-cause notice was based solely on the allegations and recommendations of National Coastal Zone Management Authority (NCZMA) arrived at because of statements made by the Secretary, Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra and the Secretary, Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra, is... misplaced," the society said.
"The allegations in the show-cause notice about the building of Adarsh having been constructed without prior clearance under 1991 notification is…misplaced and incorrect," the submission said.
