In a major crackdown on adulteration mafias in Ghaziabad district, the police have raided and recovered over 1.5 lakh litres of adulterated diesel from Bhopra area near Delhi border and over 1.6 lakh litres of illicit-liquor from Loni area.
SSP L Ravi Kumar said Sunil Mittal and Naveen Mittal, who are residents of Paschim Vihar in Delhi ran the diesel factory. The said factory reportedly prepared adulterated diesel for supplying to various areas of NCR, including Delhi. “We are also trying to trace the petrol pumps and depots, which reportedly purchased the diesel through these people,” Kumar said.
The police have seized the site, raw material and chemicals found hidden inside the underground tanks. Over 30 high-capacity drums have also been recovered form the site. Two arrests have been made in this connection and various cases have been registered against the owners. The absconding people are being traced with the help of Delhi police and arrests are likely to be made soon, the police officials said.
A large quantity of adulterated diesel was also recovered on October 27 from Bulandshahr Road industrial area in Ghaziabad.
In another raid, Loni police unearthed an adulterated liquor plant, which was being operated inside the jungles adjoining the Loni area. Over 1.5 lakh litres of adulterated liquor was recovered from the site during the raids conducted last night, which continued till Saturday afternoon.
