LK Advani will flag off Kalraj Mishra's yatra beginning from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on October 13.
He will launch his yatra from Sitabdiara in Saran district on October 11 in the presence of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. He will proceed to Patna where Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Sharad Yadav are expected and then head to Varanasi to launch Mishra's yatra. From here, Advani's yatra will go via Mirzapur to Satna, Jabalpur and Bhopal in MP, and then to Nagpur - seat of the RSS and also Gadkari's home turf.
"Advaniji will apply tilak to Mishra's yatra in Varanasi and the two yatras will merge till the UP border," said Advani aide. What has set tongues wagging is that Rajnath Singh is also launching a yatra from Mathura on October 13.
The party has decided to go to polls without announcing a candidate, with Rajnath Singh and Kalraj Mishra as perhaps the only choices, with others not really making the cut.
"Advani's flagging off Mishra's yatra may take away some of the publicity of Rajnath Singh's launch," said a BJP leader. However, a leader close to Rajnath said he was not looking at the CM's post.
Another Uttar Pradesh BJP leader said, "Advani is trying to ensure impressive crowds for his yatra in Uttar Pradesh by merging the two yatras."
