In a shocking case of road rage and rivalry between Blueline buses plying on the same route, one Blueline bus driver was crushed to death allegedly by another bus driver after an altercation.
The incident took place on Tuesday around 10:15 pm, when Ram Dutt, the driver of a Blueline bus, had an argument with the other driver, who also drove a blue line bus on the same route.
The two buses were plying on route number 479 from Punjabi Bagh to Badarpur. “According to passengers, when the bus reached Nanakpura, the driver of the other bus, identified as Narender Kumar, speed past the victim’s bus to get more passengers,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.
The police said this made Ram Dutt furious, after which he jumped out of his bus and got into Narender’s to allegedly assault him.
Meanwhile, the two got into a fight, during which, Ram Dutt fell off the bus and came under the wheels of Narender’s bus.
Police said Narender then allegedly ran over Ram Dutt, who was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
According to police, passengers said the two drivers were competing with each other for passengers right from the Lajpat Nagar bus stop.
“Both buses were on their last trip of the day. In a bid to earn more money, they were speeding. This led to one of the driver’s death,” added the officer.
