The Delhi Police have arrested the owner of a placement agency in connection with rape and abortion of an 18-year-old girl, who was rescued on Sunday from a nursing home in south Delhi.
The accused, Rajkumar, was arrested on Monday night and a case has been registered at Sarita Vihar in southeast Delhi.
Rajkumar had allegedly given her pills and got her admitted to a private clinic in Ambedkar Nagar. "We have arrested him and handed him over to police station concerned," a senior police officer said. The police are hopeful that Rajkumar's interrogation would lead them to Rajesh — who had raped the girl and his wife Kunti who had allegedly brought the girl to Delhi from Jharkhand.
Police said Kunti used to bring girls from Jharkhand and handed them over to her husband Rajesh who was running a placement agency in Aligaon in south Delhi. The girl worked as a domestic help in Dwarka for two months but left the job and returned to placement agency. Rajesh had raped her there.
Then, she was placed at a house in Gurgaon but she became pregnant in the meantime. When she returned after two months, Rajkumar gave her some pills so that the foetus could be aborted.
The girl, in her statement to the police, informed about the horrible conditions in which girls brought by Kunti were kept at the placement agency.
“There were girls as young as 10 years old. We were stuffed in a small room, situated inside in the placement agency. All of us would sleep on the floor. After some time we were sold as domestic help. Few of us even used to stay at placement agency only,” a senior police officer had said, quoting the girl’s account.
The girl had also told the police that apart from her, there were 14 others who were brought from Jharkhand. The police are now investigating the case from the angle of trafficking also.
The cops are hot on the heels of Kunti and Rajesh, who they believe would reveal the whole racket.
