More than 300 security staff members at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) went on a flash strike early on Thursday morning. They were protesting the non-payment of their provident fund amount.
The strike, however, was called off later in the evening.
The striking staffers were a part of the 1000 security staff hired on contractual basis for all three shifts.
“The strike had nothing to do with the institute. It was a result of a misunderstanding with their company,” a senior administrative official said, adding, “The matter was sorted out and they gave us in writing that they would resume work.”
