Ailing Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala is likely to be shifted to the AIIMS after a senior doctor was flown from Delhi to Kathmandu to check on his health.
Ailing Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala is likely to be shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after a senior doctor was Wednesday flown from here to Kathmandu to check on his health.
"Prof Randeep Guleria has gone to Kathmandu. He is one of the finest doctors in the department of medicine here and a specialist in respiratory medicine," said a senior doctor of AIIMS.
"We know Koirala is not keeping well these days and is likely to be shifted to AIIMS within three days. The Ministry of External Affairs is in the loop," he told IANS on condition of anonymity.
Late Sunday night a group of doctors rushed to the residence of Koirala after the 84-year-old premier complained of severe breathing difficulties.
In Kathmandu, doctors have advised Koirala, a five time prime minister, to stay away from active political campaigns for the upcoming election in April.
Man Bahadur KC, one of the doctors attending on Koirala, had told reporters that age, the spurt in cold and an old bronchitis had contributed to the premier's ill health.
