Delhi Police finally met their match on Monday evening. However, it wasn't a gun-toting criminal but a 45-year-old housewife in Malviya Nagar.

Hours after the victim found herself on the wrong side of what she thought was an attempt at being mugged by two executives promoting a toilet-cleaning product, an entire team of the south Delhi police had to camp outside her Sarvodaya Enclave residence for half a day in a bid to persuade her to register a formal complaint in the matter.

"The incident occurred around 1:30 pm when the victim, a housewife, was alone at her residence. She was approached by two men, who claimed to be conducting a survey to assess the popularity of a toilet cleaning liquid, and asked her to sign-up for the same," said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south).

According to sources, the victim, who is understood to be the wife of an engineer employed by Air India, had just picked up a pen in her hand when she started getting 'bad vibes' from the duo and started yelling at them.

The two men, in their early 20s, didn't even get the hang of what was happening around them when the woman punched one of them and started raising an alarm.

"An altercation ensued between the trio during which the victim got slashed on her right cheek and her neighbours, alerted by the commotion, made a PCR call. When officers, including the area's ACP, reached her residence to ask her about the incident - she refused to file charges," DCP Sharma said.

Meanwhile, after more than six hours of attempted persuasion, the police have given the victim a whole night to think the matter through and file a formal criminal complaint in the matter on Tuesday - if she and her family deem it fit.
