Even after the alleged scam in the DDA Housing Scheme 2008 came to light about a week ago, 25-odd property dealers operating out of Dwarka’s Sector 11 continue to ‘deal’ in flats offered under the scheme, without any fear.

These dealers have set up shop in DDA flats allotted in the last DDA Housing Scheme of 2006. The flats lie bang opposite the Sector 11 Metro Station in Dwarka.

Interestingly, Dwarka is a Zero Tolerance Zone for carrying out any kind of commercial activity in residential apartments.

DDA had built more than 600 flats in Dwarka’s Sector 11. Of these, 400 were allotted in the previous housing schemes, and 200 were on offer during the latest draw.

While the police are probing the role of property dealers for irregularities in the DDA housing scheme 2008, Hindustan Times spoke to some of them on Monday.

“We have bought the flat and are using it as our office. Almost all the LIG flats are available for sale here. We will also sell flats, which were allotted in the latest housing scheme of 2008. I am sure the dispute around them will clear soon.

But we will not offer any disputed property to any one,” said DP Gupta, owner of Shri Shyamji Properties.

The prices offered for one-bedroom LIG flats across the board range from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 33 lakh for ground floor and from Rs 22 lakh to Rs 24 lakh for fourth floor flats.

DDA in its scheme offered the same flats for Rs 12 lakh.

“Getting a DDA flat is like winning a lottery. If you make it, you can sell your flat immediately to a property dealer at double the price, who, in turn, also makes a huge profit in resale. It is easier this time around as flats are freehold and ready to occupy,” explained a property dealer on condition of anonymity.
