Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) is a good bet beyond the regular Delhi University colleges for Delhi students.
AUD, a state university, offers seven undergraduate programme and has 85% reservation for students living in the National Capital Territory. The online application process has already started and the last date of application is June 24.
Like DU, the admission to the courses is on the basis of the calculation of Best of Four subjects (BFS) mark, but cutoffs here are generally lower than top DU colleges.
Currently, AUD is at Kashmere Gate in north Delhi, but starting this year a new campus at Karampura in west Delhi has been added. There has been an addition of 200 more seats to the existing 245 seats.
“Students can select their preference of campus in the registration form. One cut-off will be declared for both the campus and seats will be allotted on the basis of merit,” said Sanjay Sharma, AUD, Dean Student Services. The university declares separate cutoff for NCT and students outside Delhi.
Last year, the highest cutoff for NCT students was 93% for BA (Hons) Psychology. For outside NCT students the highest cutoff was 95% in BA (Hons) English, Humanities and Social Science, Sociology for humanities students. For the commerce and science students the cutoffs are generally higher. The university offers full fee waiver to SC/ST and disabled students. It also offers admissions under the extra-curricular activities. Students can apply in the category from June 27-July 2.
By 2020, the university aims to start two more campuses in Rohini and Dheerpur.
