The permanent exhibition-cum-museum on Mirza Ghalib's life, his writings, costumes, photographs and incidents related to his times on display at the poet's haveli at Ballimaran in Old Delhi will play host to an evening of music on Monday.

Eminent poets will recite poetry and takreer and a special Ghalib ghazal recital will be performed by Imran Khan of the Delhi Gharana.

Conducted by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in association with the Delhi government, this initiative has been enhanced by providing special lighting and sound tracks of his work as a permanent display feature for local and foreign tourists visiting the Haveli.

"The campaign to resurrect the poetic legacy of the bard started with his haveli in the old Mughal quarters of the Capital being restored to a semblance of their previous glory by the ICCR. The degenerated mansion has been restored as a memorial and is an important marker on the heritage tourism trail of Delhi as the city was Ghalib's home as well as his muse," ICCR director general Suresh K Goel said.

The items on display include four books of Ghalib and cloaks of his wife Umrao Begum and him. Pen-holders, candle-holders and a variety of board games of the bygone era have also been replicated and are on display.
