Anna Hazare, whose fast entered the ninth day on Wednesday, is surprisingly fit for a man on water. His blood pressure, which fell and worried doctors on Tuesday, was stable, as were his pulse rate, sugar and electrolyte levels.
"Yesterday, his blood pressure was falling without medicines. He has hypertension and this isn’t a good sign. But today’s reports show his vitals are within normal limits," said Dr Naresh Trehan, chairman and MD, Medanta.
According to one of the doctors in his team, Hazare’s near-austere lifestyle is helping him go on. "He eats little anyway and has fasted for longer durations in the past."
