In another shocking incident of domestic help abuse, a placement agency owner raped an 18-year-old girl and when she became pregnant, his associate gave her an abortion pill.
The girl is currently admitted at a private clinic in south Delhi. After her statement, a case has been registered but no arrest has been made so far.
Initial investigations have revealed that the girl came to Delhi about six months ago with a woman from Gumla village in Jharkhand. The 13-year-old girl who was rescued from a doctor couple’s house in Dwarka belongs to the same village.
“The woman who brought the girl to Delhi took her to a placement agency in Aligaon, which is operated by her husband Rajesh along with one Rajkumar. She worked as a domestic help in Dwarka for two months but left the job and came back to the agency. It was then that Rajesh raped her,” a senior police officer said. The girl was rescued by Shakti Vahini, an NGO on April 14.
“The girl was found at a doctor’s clinic where she was brought for abortion. During counselling, the girl revealed that she was raped by Rajesh. After the incident, she was sent to work at a house in Gurgaon, where she worked for two months,” said Rishi Kant of Shakti Vahini. The girl returned from Gurgaon and informed Rajkumar about the rape but he did not inform the police.
“Instead, she was sent to Faridabad to work where she worked for another two months. Her employer was going out of town so she requested Rajkumar to take her to the placement agency for a few days. Instead of taking her to the agency, he took her to a placement agency in Chirag Delhi. There, she was given pills and when her health deteriorated, she was admitted to a small clinic at Ambedkar Nagar,” Kant added.
Sources said that Rajkumar had promised the doctor that he would return but he never did. A case of rape and causing miscarriage has been registered at the Sarita Vihar police station and further investigations are on.
