Delhiites experienced a hot day on Friday as the maximum temperature rose two notches above normal at 42.6 degrees Celsius, the weather office said and forecast hotter weekend.
"The maximum recorded temperature stood at 42.6 degrees Celsius," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
On Thursday, the maximum temperature was 41.8 degrees, a notch above average for this time of the year.
The minimum temperature was 25 degrees early Friday, two degrees below normal.
"The national capital can expect a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature of 27 degrees on Saturday. The sky will remain clear," the official added.
