A nine-year-old girl was rescued from a house in Vasant Vihar area on Wednesday evening. The minor girl alleged that the couple had locked her in the house. Her employer works with a big pharmaceutical company.
A neighbour had called an NGO and the police after hearing the girl's cry but by the time rescue team reached, the couple had returned. There were visible injury marks on her body and her medical examination has been conducted to ascertain the nature of injuries.
"Currently, the girl is in the custody of NGO Butterflies. She will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Thursday," a senior police officer said.
Sources said that girl has told during counselling that she was brought here to take care after couple's son. A case under juvenile justice act has been registered at the Vasant Vihar police station and Rajesh Chaturvedi, her employer, has been detained for questioning.
The girl is a native of Chapra, Bihar and was brought to Delhi by a placement agency.
In another incident, a 17-year-old girl was rescued by Bachpan Bachao Andolan from Geeta Colony. The girl was rescued from a house in Geeta Colony where she was working as a domestic help for last 4 years.
The girl's mother told the NGO that her daughter was trafficked to Delhi 5 years ago.
