An army personnel was arrested here on the charge of spying for Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), police said on Saturday.

Sleuths of Delhi Police's Special Cell apprehended Mohammed Naseem, a Lance Naik with the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, near the Shastri Park Metro Station in north Delhi late on Friday.

Several documents related to national defence and security were recovered from his possession, police said.

These classified documents include details of training of army personnel, information about weaponry of army, positioning of army units, a hand written Urdu paper containing details of the rank structure of the J&K Light Infantry and movement orders of troops.

"We had received secret information that the accused was in contact with ISI agents and passing sensitive information to them, following which a trap was laid and he was arrested red-handed," Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar said.

Naseem told his interrogators that he had joined the force in 1995 and was currently posted at the Jakli Recruitment Centre at Rangret in Srinagar.

"He revealed that he came into contact with Ali Jatoon, an ISI agent, in March last year and after being lured by the agent, he supplied the secret information in November last year for the sum of Rs.50,000," Kumar said.
