Assailants barge into Burari councillor’s home, attack kin

Three unidentified assailants equipped with knives and other sharp weapons allegedly barged into Burari councillor Gulab Singh Rathaur’s residence and attacked three of his family members on Monday night, police said.

According to the police, the incident tok place around 9.30pm on Monday. They barged inside and assaulted his brother, nephew and driver.

“The injured have been identified as Sunil Singh Rathaur, the councillor’s brother, Awadhesh Singh Rathaur, his nephew, and the family driver, Sanjay,” said a police officer.

Police said the injured were rushed to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital from where two of the victims were discharged after preliminary treatment. The condition of Awadhesh was stated to be critical.

According to the police, two of the three assailants involved in the incident, identified as Ramesh and Harish Chandra, were arrested after a criminal case was lodged at the Burari Police Station.
