A 28-year-old property dealer was shot at by unidentified assailants in north Delhi's Kashmere Gate area on Saturday morning, police said.
"The victim has been identified as Sattu, a local travel agent who used to operate from the Khoya Mandi area. He is currently recuperating at a private hospital," said a senior police officer.
According to the police, the incident occurred at 5 am, when the victim was meeting a client at his office.
"A gang of men just barged into the shop and started assaulting Sattu with blunt weapons. They asked him to vacate the shop as soon as he could, and warned him of dire consequences," the officer said.
Police said Sattu was shot in his right arm when he challenged the gang of assailants, who fled the spot soon after injuring him.
"We have reason to believe that the assailants were goons hired by the victim's landlord, who has been asking him to vacate the premises for some months. A case of attempt to murder has been registered at the Kashmere Gate Police station and investigations are underway," the officer added.
