Audacious robbers who shot daredevil cop committed robbery after murder

Three criminals who had shot dead a Delhi Police constable during a robbery attempt in outer Delhi’s Bawana on August 19 were arrested by the Delhi Police special cell on Friday night.
Two days after the incident, the men committed another robbery at a Mother Dairy booth in Begampur area, said Arvind Deep, special commissioner of police (special cell).
“They executed the crime even when they knew the entire outer district police and teams of special cell and crime branch were looking for constable Anand Singh’s killers,” said Arvind Deep.
Police recovered the countrymade pistol used to gun down constable Anand Singh who confronted the men when they were robbing a woman of cash and her mobile phone.

A stolen motorcycle the men were riding at the time of the crime and the stolen mobile phone were recovered from the robbers -- Sumit Thakran, Rahul alias Panda, and Sunil Sehrawat alias Churri.
The special CP said the three wanted to earn quick money. After killed the constable, they were roaming the streets looking for potential victims.
In the past week, the police rounded up 136 budding criminals in the age group of 18 and 21 years in outer Delhi. “Our teams examined dossiers of almost 90 active criminals and 150 others recently released on bail,” he said.
“On Friday evening, we got information that Sumit would reach the main Bawana road. A trap was laid and Sumit was caught with a pistol and four cartridges,” V Renganathan, joint CP (special cell), said.
Sumit admitted killing Anand. He disclosed the identities and residential addresses of his associates in Daryapur Kalan village in Delhi.
In an overnight operation, Rahul was nabbed from his home. “Sunil was arrested early Saturday morning,” Pramod Singh Kushwah, DCP (special cell), said.
The three men said they were robbing Meena, who sold eggs on a cart, of her money and mobile when a man named Mitthu caught hold of one of them.

Constable Anand, who was passing by the area on his bike, saw them. He tried to grab the two other robbers but one of them fired a bullet in the air. Hearing the gunshots, Mitthu released the robber he was holding and three fled.
“The constable chased them. Sumit fired a bullet that hit Anand’s chest. He collapsed on the road and died,” Kushwah said.
