The Ghaziabad Police have added two more sections to the FIR filed on January 28 in the Audi Q7 accident case.

The sections were added after a man allegedly impersonated Ishaq Ahmad from Bareilly and surrendered before a Ghaziabad claiming to be driving the Audi at the time of the accident.

“There have been a lot of different developments in the case. A man surrenders, another man says he did not surrender and the car owner is still not coming forward. After all these complications, we have instructed the Indirapuram Police to add IPC section 211 (false charge of offence made with intent to injure) and 182 (false information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) to the FIR,” said Deepak Kumar, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Ghaziabad.

“The truck driver has called up saying that he is returning from work and will join investigation soon. We have also got in touch with the doctor who will soon come forward for assisting investigation. It is his duty to come forward and help in the investigation. If he does not come forward now, we can turn him as an accused under the additional IPC sections and can obtain a non-bailable warrant against him from court,” Kumar added.

The officials said that they are also investigating a larger conspiracy behind the entire incident as there are issues related to surrender of a person who is purportedly not the original Ahmad.

As per police, the 164 CrPC statements of the truck driver will hold prime importance in the accident case.

“He will be produced before the court. If he tells court that he did not surrender, then other people will be under scanner. If he says that it was he who surrendered before the court, then the onus of the accident lies with him. His statements are crucial and he has been vehemently denying that he ever came to court or knows Dr Manish Rawat. Even the people who gave sureties in the court are under scanner,” SSP added.

The original FIR into the incident was lodged against unidentified occupants of the Audi SUV number DL11CA-3420. The FIR was lodged under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 304A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (causing damages) of the Indian Penal Code at Indirapuram police station. The sections are bailable.
