The Enforcement Directorate has found fresh clues into the involvement of some CWG OC officials in the alleged financial irregularities in the Queen's Baton Relay launch in London in 2009.
The officials include joint director general (JDG) M Jeychandren, who did not appear before the ED on Thursday forcing it to write to the OC CEO Jarnail Singh. Jeychandren, sources said, is currently in Chennai.
ED sources said, certain documents reveal how Jeychandren had signed papers in September 2009 approving the sanction of £127,712 to a London-based firm, AM Films for the Baton launch.
HT has a copy of the minutes of the meeting of the OC's ‘Committee for Evaluation of Bids’ for services to be provided during Baton relay, which is signed by three OC officials — Jeychandren, former JDG Sanjay Mohindroo and deputy director general (ceremonies) Indu Anand.
The committee had recommend that due to shortage of time, the lowest offer of £127,712, from AM Films be accepted. A subsequent letter dated October 24, 2009 was signed by OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi. Under Kalmadi’s signature, Jeychandren and Mohindroo had under the head “Most Urgent” noted: “Chairman OC has desired the payment processed immediately”.
