A day after the BJP withdrew support to the BJD-led government in Orissa, state leaders of the saffron party today apprised the central leadership that the “adamant attitude” of the Naveen Patnaik-led party has brought down the 11-year-old alliance.
Party state president Suresh Pujari and Member of Parliament from the state Dharmendra Pradhan along with few other MLAs reached the party headquarters here to brief the “ground situation”, sources said.
The delegation held an hour-long meeting with party Organisation Secretary Ramlal Agarwal and “briefed the reasons behind the collapse of the BJP-BJD alliance.”
The delegation is of the view that the alliance collapsed due to adamant attitude of the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD, the sources said.
The BJP has convened an urgent meeting of its central officers-bearers here this evening to discuss the future course of action.
Senior leader L K Advani will attend the crucial meet, the sources said, adding among other things, the alliance situation in Bihar, Maharashtra and Punjab are likely to be discussed in the meet.
