The stalemate over appointing home secretary in Delhi seems to be over finally with both the ministry of home affairs and the Delhi government reaching a consensus on appointing senior bureaucrat SN Sahai. Sahai will be the new home secretary and the L-G has cleared his appointment, sources in the government said.
For over a month there were two home secretaries in Delhi—L-G appointed Dharam Pal and Delhi government appointed Rajendra Kumar.
In the first sign of truce, the Delhi government had suggested three names for home secretary of which ministry for home affairs have agreed on Sahai.
Sahai, who is known to be close to CM Arvind Kejriwal, is the finance secretary of Delhi and played crucial role in preparing budget for Delhi government.
