Attacking the BJP as a party that “makes strategies sitting in air-conditioned rooms,” Kalyan Singh said the failure to focus on common man-related issues led to its defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.
“BJP focused on issues like Ram Setu and Amarnath land row. However, these are issues that did not enthuse the common man,” the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.
“Where were the issues related to the common man, the youth, the poor and farmers? These are the core issues that BJP did not raise,” Singh said.
He said the top BJP leadership will have to take responsibility for its loss in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections.
“What do you mean by collective responsibility? The top leaders will have to sit and analyse the reasons behind their loss,” he said.
Singh, who won as an Independent backed by Samajwadi Party from Etah Lok Sabha seat, asserted that Samajwadi Party will win the 2012 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
“In the just concluded Lok Sabha elections people choose UPA over NDA. However, I am saying with confidence that Samajwadi Party will emerge victorious in the next assembly elections there. People are not happy with the governance of Mayawati’s BSP and therefore SP will emerge successful,” Singh said.
