Bharatiya Janata Party MP and former Mumbai Police commissioner Satyapal Singh was stopped for travelling in an even-numbered car on Friday, even as Delhi began its traffic rationing scheme to curb air pollution in the national capital.

The Delhi government is testing a formula where private cars will be allowed on the roads only on alternate days from January 1-15, depending on whether their licence plates end in an even or an odd number.

Singh’s vehicle was not issued a challan, but the traffic police handed him a leaflet of rules of the car rationing rules.
