To make its Friday rally against Delhi government a success, the Delhi state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has directed all its councillors to arrange a crowd of 10,000 people at Jantar Mantar.
The protest has been called to “highlight the failure of Delhi government” in curbing price rise and the ongoing water and power crisis in the Capital. However, to ensure that the soaring mercury in the Capital doesn’t take its toll on the health of its workers, the party has ordered its councillors to arrange for lemonade and juices for the protesters.
“All ward committees have been asked to bring at least 100 people each. Since, we also plan to court arrest, all necessary arrangements have to be made for the convenience of our workers,” said a councillor from South Delhi Municipal Corporation.
Bharatiya Janata Party biggies including Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, VK Malhotra and Vijender Gupta would be addressing the rally on Friday. After this, the party workers will march towards Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s residence, where they plan to court arrest.
“Organising protest in this weather is not easy. We’ll be serving lemonade, lassi and juices to our workers along with packed lunch,” said a standing committee member of North Delhi Municipal Corporation.
The party will also make arrangements to get its workers to the protest venue.
“Buses and cars have been booked by individual councillors to ferry people. Workers from as far as Narela and Najafgarh will attend the protest,” the South Delhi councillor added.
