Hundreds of BJP workers on Friday staged a demonstration here demanding removal of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and brining her in the ambit of the investigation into the alleged bunglings in the CWG spendings by Delhi Government.
The demonstrators led by senior BJP leaders V K Malhotra, Vijay Goel and Vijendra Gupta gathered near Jantar Mantar and tried to take out a procession to the Prime Minister's residence but were prevented by police.
Police used water canons to stop the marching BJP workers and later over hundred of them were detained.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Gupta, who is Delhi BJP chief, alleged "massive corruption" in all the CWG projects implemented by various Delhi Government agencies and held Dikshit responsible for the irregularities.
"The Chief Minister must go to ensure a fair probe. The top officials, who were involved in implementation of CWG projects must also be removed so that they cannot influence the probe," Gupta said.
He also demanded confiscation of passports of "contractors and some officials" involved in CWG projects, saying some of them were preparing to leave the country to avoid facing inquiry.
Raising question over the ongoing probe, Gupta said the intention of the Government is "doubtful" as "efforts are on to save the big guns in Delhi Government, Union Urban Development Ministry, Sports Ministry and Organising Committee."
"BJP will not allow it to happen. As the enquiry is progressing, new stories of bunglings are coming to light daily," he said alleging that important files are disappearing from the office of the Organising Committee.
Goel said he had been raising the issue of corruption in Games spending for last one year but nobody took his allegations seriously.
Malhotra asked party workers to continue their fight in bringing the guilty to book.
Former Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana alleged that the UPA Government has broken all records of corruption in preparations for the Games.
