Giving impetus to its campaign for the removal of the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government in the Capital, Delhi state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to start a signature campaign from Tuesday.
The 21-day campaign will see BJP workers visiting 21 lakh houses in the city to take signatures of the house-owners on specially prepared forms.
“The forms will later be presented to the President of India,” Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta said.
Gupta said despite being indicted by Prime Minister-appointed Shunglu Committee, which had pointed out several irregularities in Commonwealth Games projects, and comptroller and auditor general’s report, which pointed out irregularities in awarding of contracts and quality of work in games-related projects, the central government was “deliberating saving the corrupt”.
“If no action is taken against the high-profile, who indulge in corruption, the country will lose trust in the Indian constitution. We want the President of India to intervene in the matter so that the power of the constitution and laws may be re-established,” Gupta said.
The signature campaign will start at 10 am on Tuesday from Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar Metro Station. The BJP president said the party workers would apprise the people about the corrupt practices the Delhi government indulged in.
“Workers will jot down the names and contact numbers of all members of a family, in addition to their address, before getting their signature on the forms. This way the campaign will reach every nook and cranny of Delhi,” Gupta said.
