Accusing the Congress government in Delhi of failing on all fronts, the BJP on Monday said party cadres would "gherao" the Legislative Assembly when it meets on Wednesday.
"The BJP workers shall demonstrate at the Legislative Assembly on September 10, the first day of the session in protest against the Sheila Dikshit government which has failed on all fronts," BJP Delhi unit president Harsh Vardhan said.
He said the government is making tall claims about the power situation in the capital but electricity is disrupted for about four to eight hours in many parts of the city.
"Since the privatisation of power in 2002, power tariff has been increased by three times due to the fast running meters, the consumers are paying more than twice the power bills," Vardhan claimed.
The BJP leader alleged that corruption has crossed "all the limits" during the 10-year rule of Dikshit.
"All departments of the Delhi government, even the ministers have been found to be involved in corrupt practices. The Lokpal had taken cognizance of a case of corruption in connection with awarding contract of the DJB against the chief minister, who is its chairperson," he said.
He also accused the Congress government of "playing with the people living in the poor colonies" in the run up to the Assembly polls.
Just before the elections, a competition of issuing false and misleading assurances about construction of flats has started, he said.
"On the one hand, lakhs of application have been taken from the poor people and on the other hand Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken has announced construction of 11 storeyed flats," he said and termed the assurances as "fraud".
